Surgical and hospital care

Things can go wrong in theatre, on the ward and in the systems hospitals rely on. These articles explain when that may be negligence.

An overview

Hospitals rely on people and systems working well together. Claims can arise from errors in theatre or anaesthesia, poor monitoring on the ward, or delays in getting the right care.

At the milder endA wound infection after surgery that wasn’t noticed promptly, needing further treatment and a longer stay.
At the more serious endA brain injury from lack of oxygen during surgery, or a death that becomes the subject of a coronial inquest.

Every situation is different. What matters is what happened, how it has affected you, and whether the care fell below what was reasonable. Even where an injury is less severe, you may still be able to recover costs such as treatment and lost income.
