What the register records
The register records that Dr Mah has been reprimanded.
It also records conditions on his general registration. There are no conditions on his specialist registration in general practice. In summary, the conditions recorded on the register require him:
- not to possess, supply, administer or prescribe Schedule 8 drugs of addiction, or substances listed in Schedule 4 Appendix D of the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Regulation 2008 (NSW), except when prescribing for hospital inpatients on a hospital medication chart;
- to complete an approved course in pain treatment and management principles within 12 months of 18 December 2015;
- to obtain the Medical Council of NSW’s approval before changing the nature or place of his practice outside an accredited psychiatric training program;
- to give a copy of the decision imposing the conditions to his training supervisors and to the principal and clinical director of any practice where he works; and
- to authorise the Medical Council of NSW to share information with his workplaces, Medicare Australia and the Pharmaceutical Services Unit to monitor his compliance.
The register notes that one of the original conditions was removed on 14 February 2023.
What the register does not say
The register does not state the date of the reprimand, the reasons for the reprimand or the conditions, or which body imposed them. The conditions refer to a decision and run from 18 December 2015, but no tribunal decision is linked from the register entry.
